    Japanese Sword - military?

    Hey guys,
I don't know much about this sword. It definitely appears old, possibly WWII era. I was curious if anyone here knows if it's military, or what the translations say. It's numbered also. Here's some pics:

It's not like any Japanese military sword I'm aware of and appears to me to be another one of the many reproductions from China.

Me too! Upon the scabbard is etched, "Sasaki Fourth Cavalry Squadron"

        木第四騎兵中隊
        Sasaki Dai 4 Kihei Chutai
I've always ever seen Sasaki written as 佐々木 with the repeating symbol .

The blade ricasso is etched with
        Sasaki
        十五 Showa 15 year

The other side looks like it might have 天皇 "Tenno" [Emperor] etched. I see what looks like the second kanji of Tenno:

        All these are red flags.

        Cheers!

The translation is fairly irrellevant. It is 110% fake. Chinese junk. Sorry.

Right Brian ... but there is a relevance; and that is, if one sees a "Japanese" sword with these kinds of markings (e.g., "Tenno"), one can be fairly certain the sword is a fake. I think it benefits the community to translate the markings so those who have not studied Japanese (or kantei) can better identify something that is (to some of us) patently fake.

            Best regards,
