help please

hi lads, picked this up today, blade is 4"long, 1.25 wide and 3/8th thick it's
got hada and hamon and very sharp, can anyone tell me what it is?

Interesting item. Just a wild guess but perhaps for shaving?

Just a Japanese utility knife for woodworking and such. I like these, the blades are made from folded steel like traditional swords (at least on the good ones). Not military, but still of some interest to people into Japanese blades.
