    Japanese Bayonet with Wooden Scabbard

I acquired this piece yesterday from the great grandson of the vet that brought this one home. The seller also had a Type 99 in average condition w/o the mum, but we couldn't agree on a price.

I have purchased numerouls Japanese bayonets, but this is my first w/ a woodent scabbard.

Nice bayonet. From the sound of it, you probably got the better of the two pieces! Congrats on a nice rig.

Not to be a downer but that bayonet would of been in a steel scabbard. Those red stained wood scabbards are usually for late Jinsen arsenal bayonets.

The scabbard is in very good condition, wait till you find a late model bayonet to put in with.

Here is one excellent example to replace with.

I have it's mate! A nice late war Jinsen in a good early scabbard! The reason why: the vet thought the wooden scabbard was "cheap junk" and a nice metal scabbard looked better!
As other have said, even though they don't match they are still two very nice pieces. It wouldn't take much $$ to pick up a nice proper bayonet for the scabbard and nice scabbard for the bayonet
