Picked this balde up yesterday, the blade measures 35 inches with the tang , it may of been cut down a bit , maybe it was longer atone time. The hardest part about these swords is getting good pictures of the temper line and all the other cool details that make these so intresting. I tok the best pics that i could LOL please bear with me.

Thanks for the positve comment on the sword, i could have it restored but should i spend 4 or 5 grand to have it done do you think its worth it. I measured from the notch to the tip and its 27 10/16 inches long. Do you have any helpfull tips on how to photograph a sword?
Thanks again for the help!

I'm guessing you measured along the curve? 27" is a long blade by modern standards. Can you measure the distance in a straight line?
I'm not any sort of expert on Japanese sword values, so I couldn't even guess at the value of the blade, or if it's worth it to be properly polished.
And I can't clearly judge, but it looks like yours has a slight koshizori; that is, the deepest part of the curve is closer to the handle.
image source Richard Stein's VERY informative website.
Cheers!

Thanks
I used the same diagram to look up the terms online LOL,
i measured it straight , no curve straight accross 27 10/16 inches.
When you really get down and look at it really close you can see the many many folds, very cool.!!!It came with a Kyu - gunto sword handle but its to small for this balde, does not fit not even close. Ill add a picture of it.
