Notice the bristles of hair on the turned over rough side of the pig skin liner.

Hmm, very crude & rough stitching on rear liner band! Doesn't get any more unissued! What's the ink stamped showa date on pads reverse?

I believe that helmet, nice late multi-piece liner. Nice.

It has the number "15" stamped in a small block with kanji symbols in attached smaller sub-blocks.

                Ija

Hello, just a quick ??? why do most, if not all IJA Helmets that I have seen have that painted stripe around the lower part of the helmet. The one I have has it, and it's battle used, yours - like never used. Any idea why the paint??.

                  Showa 15 is 1940

The different color around the helmet is believed to be a touch up from when helmets were stacked while still wet or to cover the liner pins and star that were later added.

can you recheck number? I'd of guessed a "19' for 1944 based on liner variation

Unusual to see this type of a liner in such an early helmet as stated!

Perhaps the liner was assembled late war using 1940 manufactured and stamped cloth liner pads or perhaps some early liners were assembled in this variation. Who knows.

I also thought the date would be later. I don't know.
