Got this a while back from an exterminator friend of mine he saw it when he as spraying a closet along with 2 others I didnt have the cash for the one with the cover. The vet was a Captain of a PT boat and took them from a destroyed landing craft.

Geoff, that's a great NAVY helmet! Two things to note. The front rivet is unpainted. Many of these helmets have the anchor stencilled over the rivet. This leads me to believe that some of these were painted prior to being completed with liner installed. The liner is also interesting. This shade of gray must be due to either the type of leather used or the tanning process. I have one that's a light blue gray in color. If you should ever sell or trade please keep me in mind & thanks for posting
