Japanese on-board Naval helmet badge

I have seen only a couple of pics of Japanese blue/gray on-board naval helmets. In a period pic (in this forum) and in a recent collection pic the helmet anchor badge seemed to be painted a different color than the blue/gray of the helmet. Was this typical; and if so, what color was the badge? Thank you for your help!

So I presume that, after the unpainted nickle badges, they went to anchor badges painted the color of the helmet, and thence to the simple yellow anchor painted onto the helmet.

David : Thanks for the response. A couple of questions if you do not mind. First, a long time ago I bookmarked your sites regarding your fascinating caving on Okinawa, but now the bookmarks don't work. Are they still around? Second, just finished a great book regarding Peleliu; did you ever go caving there or other islands?

Hi Mike,

The sites are still there, maybe during an update some of the sites were moved around causing your links to break. Do a search of my name or "Okinawa relics" and they will come up. I have not been to Saipan but would love to visit one day.
