    Japanese medals.

    Hi.

I wanted to say hello to me in the new forum section.
This is a new area for me.

I'll show you my new Japanese medals. I know the basic information about them.

    I am interested in information:

    1. Do you have to give after the war?

    2. Are there any interesting variations of these examples are worth careful?

For all the comments very much.

    Greetings.

    Maciej G.

    Hello Marciej,
Here is a very good web page about Japanese medals http://www.imperialjapanmedalsandbad...m/sitemap.html
Your medals are not rare, but still nice and interesting to collect.

I am not sure I understand your questions, but I will try to answer.

    1. Japanese did not have to give up their medals after the war.
Some medals were still issued after WW2. See the Japan Mint page http://www8.cao.go.jp/shokun/en/index-e.html

    2. There are some minor variations, I do not think there is any big difference in value like with some German medals. The imperialjapanmedalsandbadges.com is good reference for these variations.

      Hi

Thank you for your comprehensive answer.
One last question. - Is it possible to determine in what years was produced my - Order of the Rising Sun? During the war, or after?

      Thank you and best regards.

        Maciej,

Your Rising Sun order is the 8th class. All I can tell you is it is previous to 2003.
The badge for the Seventh and Eighth Classes consisted of a silver medal in the shape of three paulownia leaves, enamelled for the 7th Class and plain for the 8th Class. Both were suspended on a ribbon, again in white with red border stripes, and worn on the left chest. Both classes of the order were abolished in 2003.

This site posits that a spring-loaded box is the "newer" version, but he gives no date estimate of what is considered "newer.":

Yours looks like the "newer" version on the right.

It was issued after the WWII.
