Black Meiji Era Cap...?

Hello Guys,

So I was wondering what this cap is because I can’t seem to find any information on it at all. I know that Imperial Guards caps had red bands and piping…infantry has yellow so what the heck is this one? So I am really stumped on this one so any help would be much more than I have been able to find.

Not sure who it's for but it's in Nakata’s books, black was used by kempitai but the Meiji photos I have of them show them in the officers parade type cap.

The blossom is not correct for the cap though.

Regarding cap colours I believe they are as follows:

Line Infantry / Artillery: yellow
Imperial Guards: red
Medical: Yellow/Green
Cavalry: dark Green
Engineers: Brown
Transport: Blue
Military police: red top and black bottom
??????????? : Black

Nice shape and condition type 1894.
I cant read the kanji ,but I think its this hat in the photo.

Paul , is right about the chinstrap buttons ,they are navy and not for this cap.

thats the one Nakata has a photo of it in his new book. I wonder if it's a intendance or army school version. ???
