This came out of the woodwork recently and into a friend's antique shop. It came in a very nice Japanese black lacquer box. The flag's hinomaru is made from two pieces of red silk sewn to a single piece of white silk (with a circular cutout in it). It's the only sewn vs silk screened Japanese flag I've encountered and it's also marked as being examined & passed in the field by joint intelligence unit #187. Here are some pics.
