Japanese Practice Bomb?

Hey y'all:

I just bought this practice bomb, or that is what I assume it is. Based on the markings am correct it is Japanese?

What is this thing and what might a value range be? It's got newish paint I think.

It is a Japanese Type 100 mortar shell and as you stated, repainted. It would be a good candidate for restoration, apart from the paint it looks to be in good condition. It might be possible that the original paint is underneath the black/silver paint (silver tends to be easier to remove so there might be hope for the original paint). Someone was probably going to use it to make a lamp.

I have no idea what the 11 means after "Showa 15"
