    Rifle - clueless

Sometimes stuff comes in from my ad that I know zero about. This came as a package deal with some other stuff and where I'm not into Japanese stuff I'm hoping to ask the experts what I'm looking at prior to sending it down the road to a new home.

Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at here?

(Sorry in advance for the photos - I'm no good at items larger than a breadbox.)

    Thanx in advance, Rick

Thanx Gunto. That was damn quick.

Not to be crass but are these things worth anything beyond being a doorstop? The only Japanese item I own is a Sword which might come in handy during the zombie apocalypse (they made real nice swords) but I've no need for a rifle so I would like to find it a new home.

Clearly, it appears to be missing the screws holding it into the stock as well as the cleaning rod but that said, is it worth me trying to find a new home for it? Can I get a feeling for what a reasonable price might be to ask?

Hey RC...nice tomato stake ya got there. Personally, despite the recent upsurge in things Japanese, i think our friend Gunto might be overrating this baby a bit if you're looking to make quick work of it. I saw a few such rifles at the MAX show in way better shape in the same ballpark as was quoted.....just sayin'....

However were you to say that it was Admiral Nomura's favorite hunting rifle, that could enhanse the value a bit......

                    cheers old buddy....rich

Rich, I was told this was the Emperor's personal tomato stake. Should be worth something, eh?

Would be happy to trade it to you for that crappy old Chicago Typewriter you have boxed up in your basement. At least here in New Hampshire we could use it for deer or coydog hunting and it wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

Thats a mighty kind offer RC and i'm severely tempted to take you up on it. The prestige i would gain in my ever shrinking circle of friends would certainly be worth the price of admission for such a storied artifact!! However i coulden't live with myself knowing i'd deprived you of such a rare piece of fine art. Besides, the keys on that typewriter are all gummed up anyhow and i'm afraid its way out of tune. It really woulden't be of much use to you or your coydogs.......now were you to come up with a pair of Eva Braun's.....oh never mind.....
