estand hat opinions?

Hi all,

as I have decided to add Japanese collecting to my list of things I am new to this and would like opinions on this hat before going through with a deal.

Is it good? also, what are signs to look for fakes?

What we see more often than fakes with Japanese caps are dressed up civilian work caps with insignia added to make them look military. (Not referring to the cap in question, but since you asked about fakes) Usually just a star added to make them look like an army cap.
Also watch for modern replicas (Usually by Nakata www.nakatashoten.com ) being sold as real either intentionally or out of ignorance. These are marked with the Nakata logo, but someone may try to remove or cover it, or in many cases people unfamiliar with it just don't realize what the mark means.

I can't be sure, the ink stamp marking usually is found in Em and NCO caps not officer. Most but not all two stripe naval officer caps had a diamond shaped tag in the lining. The hat is question is of unusually low quality for officer grade.
