    Japanese-made WWII movies

    Hi all,

Has anyone seen either of these two Japanese-made WWII movies?

"For Those We Love" a.k.a. "I Go To Die For You." (2008?)

    "Yamato." (2007)

If so, any comments on them, worth buying?

Any other Japanese-made movies of WWII that can be recommended?

    Regards

    Russ

I know the Yamato has been discussed in the Book Review and Media sub forum. Not sure about the other one. I think you will be able to locate some feedback there by using the Search feature.

Hi Stu, thanks for the info - appreciated. I found a review thread on "Yamato". Some mixed opinions on that one.

Here's a link to the other one which is about a group of Kamikaze pilots.

The story about the Kamikaze pilots was written by Shintaro Ishihara, the current mayor of Tokyo and is more a human drama than a war movie. I enjoyed watching it, but I read it was a commercial flop in Japan.

Hi Nick, many thanks for your input on this movie.

It sounds quite appealing to me as I'm not looking for a full-on 'action' movie, but rather more of a visual story on the range of emotions and experiences these guys must have been through leading up to their missions.

          Regards

Yes, then it is exactly the right movie for you.
