I think the plastic one is a navy name tag? The name says "Ikeda"

                Hi Robert,

Nice flag. Looks like the five large kanji across the top are the often seen ones that read Ki Buun Choukyuu - Prayers for Good Fortune in Battle. There also appears to be a hanko or temple stamp in red ink just to the left of the slogan. If you can get a clear close up of it the temple may be identified. Soldiers took their flags to the temples to have them blessed.

                Regards.

Post#2 is a little pouch filled with Omamori, good luck charms that were often gotten at temples. They were carried to ward of bullets / harm.

Your green booklet is called Guntaitecho-- "Army Unit Handbook" These sometimes have a lot of great unit history written in them. If you have the time, I would love to see pics. of more handwritten pages within the booklet, maybe the exact unit and movements of the soldlier can be obtained from this booklet. There should be a page or two with several red stamped circles interspersed between the written kanji that should give information on the soldier and his unit.

thanks for that information, this lot appears more interesting than I originally thought. Now the dilemma to keep or sell.
                      cheers Robert
