Thanks for the comments. Well, it may be a "poor" etch by your general concensus, but I've not much doubt that it was done during its period of wear, and honestly, I believe it's not a bad looking beastie, but regardless, I was happy to have found it. The short fuller on the opposite side of the blade I find interesting as well. Also, any thoughts on the Tsuba? Thanks again for the comments gents.

Thanks Nick. Oh, I know what you mean. I have an Aikuchi (sp?) knife that's got a dragon etch on the blade thats 100 times more intricate than this one. I just think in the overall scheme of things that it's not a terribly rendered etch. "Simplistic", most definitely, but perhaps my standards in this regard simply aren't as elevated, not being a Japanese sword collector per-se. Thanks again for the input!
