    Japanese 91/97 Handgrenade

Enjoy this Japanese WW2 91/97 Handgrenade.... It started off as a type 91 Grenade to be used with a booster in a T-89 Launcher (Knee Mortar)... To keep from being used in the Knee Mortar, metal welds were added to the bottom rim of the Grenade and the threads were taken out of the booster well..It can no longer be used as a mortar round, just as standard handgrenade...BILL

      TYpe 91/97

Hello Bill. I've got one of these that has a white painted bottom with most of the original paper decal intact. Placed up inside the recessed bottom the decal was protected from wear and damage. I'll try to get a photo posted sometime soon.

These are neat grenades. Here is a pic of mine showing the label and white paint:

Those Kangi writings which make the grenade very "Japanese" feel.
