The large sized kanji are almost always a variation on a few main slogans.

A flag made out to a sailor in the US Navy on Nov 9, 1945 in Yokosuka. His name is there, but unless it's a John Smith, names written in Japanese are a pain to decipher, so I'll leave that to someone else.
