    Japanese helmet/US dough boy reissue

Hi, I need some help with this helmet. It was found in the garbage by a friend and he gave it to me. Its a U.S dough boy helmet. Its been repainted on the outside and under the rim. Its the Japanese helmet color. On the front painted over the original unit insignia is some (for a lack of better words) chicken scratch. The liner is missing but still has the springy chin strap. The dome still has the original U.S. paint inside. On the back side under the rim are two Japanese symbols/characters. I'm new to this site and would like to show some pictures but I don't know how to post them so I could use a little advise with that too. Thanks in advance, Frank

Can't really say much without pictures, except for this. You say "springy" chinstrap. That sounds more British, Canadian, or other UK country, and not American.

Sorry. Frank sent me photos of the helmet, but I guess they were too big to upload.

It is British, and the kanji looks very similar to the helmet in the thread that Dean provided.

            Japanese / dough boy helmet

I would like to thank Steve and Dean for the information they provided about the helmet. The helmet is British, captured and pressed into Japanese rear guard services. I knew it was re issued to rear guard but thought it was U.S. never gave it a thought about being British. Again, thanks guys for your expertise.

            Best regards, Frank
