Sea of Japan Army landing force?

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me what was the 'Sea of Japan Army landing force'? I have tried searching for it but have come up with very little information.

I have a red senninbari with the above written on it and am trying to write an information label for it, but am not having much luck.

    Thank you in advance.

I think it is a misreading of something else.

We have discussed these troops here. Here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...hlight=dog+tag is one thread that comes to mind. I at one time had a tag to a member of one of these IJA amphibious units. It now is in the collection of another member here. There was a brigade that defended Enewetak http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enewetak_Atoll in 1944. There have also been a few IJA helmets to surface w/ anchors painted in yellow over an IJA star badge. It has crossed my mind that they could have possibly belonged to the IJA men of these amphibious units. Others here have also researched these obscure units. I am sure they can add to this discussion. Hope this helps.

Yes, you were fed totally bogus info. It just says "Wish you everlasting fortunes in battle".
There is no such thing as a Sea of Japan Landing Force. The item is not bogus, though.

Thanks nick. All good though. Didnt pay anything for it. The vet who gave it to me, must have been misinformed down the line.

It is possible that the vet has or has had something else from the Naval Landing Forces and mixed up the translations. Ask him for a lasting fortune inscription and he may pull out an NFL item.
