    Japanese Naval Landing Force Telephone

    Hi All,

I am trying to get more information regarding this Field Phone. I have heard of these refered to as Naval Landing Force Field Phone but the only information so far is word of mouth and the site below:

    http://www.armyradio.com/arsc/custom...Telephones.htm

Anyways, would love to see photos others who have this phone in there collection. The site above did not have the labels translated and would love to have the kanji translated on what type/model this phone is listed on the labels. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from others.

    Regards, David

Is the crank permantly attatched, or does it fold up or come out for storage?

Hi, the crank handle comes off and stores in the phone

are there any anchors or navy markings? Is this IDed or pictured anywhere? I think it was issued with a leather case & shoulder strap. I know I've seen them somewhere

The field phone had leather straps attached directly to the case (see photo) at one time but is long gone now so to me that would indicate that this never had a leather case and was used as pictured. It is dated 1943 from what I was able to make out but unfortunately the portion that tells the model is "smudged". The label is similiar to the data plaques found on the Shipboard phones. Unfortunately the data plaque on mine is too damaged to see majority of the info that was printed so was hoping that someone else out there had a similiar one to show. I saw or had a photo of NLF using a field phone but still looking.

Ok Thanks for those who responded. I guess I will have to go with the expert on this one LTC William Howard at the link provided in the first post and say YES NLF Use Field Phone. Thanks all .

                    David.

I am not an expert, but in Japan your phone is regarded an army model. The model used by the NFL would have been mainly this navy type 2 model.

That's a great piece Nick. I assume it had a leather carry case with strap? Also can you show us the mouth piece or what's stored inside?
