    Another Samurai

    Just picked this up.It is 36''inch long from tip to top and just the blade is a little over 27''.No writing on the tang.I gave $750 for it.Did I do OK?Any info would be great.

            Thanks for the info everyone.What does it all mean?I don't know anything much about this subject.Is the sword old?What about the round cross guard thing?What's the real value?Sorry for being so dumb!!

                I would ;but its so confusing.I collect WW1 &2 German.Which i know quite a bit;but these swords are harder then Japanese arithmetic.(Don't Laugh)

                        Looks like a real Samurai sword ...from the hamon you can tell that its a fine blade...I believe you did very good considering that WW II machine made blades go for even more money...

                          may we have some better photos of the nakago ?
                          from the hamon the blade looks showato and oil quenched ??

                              Hi Dan,

                              Nakago means "tang" in dagger terms and oil quenched refers to a step in the cooling process.
