Japanese navy cap tally translation help...

Hello folks. A nice little flea market find from this past weekend...The woman I got it from got it from her neighbor apparently. I'm curious if the band denotes a particular ship or does it just signify Imperial Navy? A few pix below. Thanks for any help!

Hi, the Tally simply reads "Greater Japan Imperial Navy". Ships names were removed and this was used from I believe 1942 until 1945.
