Hi Bruno,

The hook is to place the sword in the "regain" position.

This was done to make it easier to carry and stabilize the sword. I think the small hook could be used in the same manner as the permanent hook, just a little bit more stabilizing. Also, the small hook could attach to the scabbard ring without using the regain hook at the end of the hanger.
