    help with Japanese character

    Hello,

can anyone please tell me what this Japanese character or symbol painted on the inside of this Japanese helmet means. I'm thinking it's maybe the soldier's name, but idk? thanks, John H.

I believe that's the size (large) mark. I'm new to helmets though so wait for confirmation.

    Regards,
    Stu

This is the first Japanese Helmet I have owned, as I mostly collect named German items. thanks, John H.

Check the other side of the liner, there may be a stamp with the Japanese date or maybe an owner's name.

          Example

The character says "dai" and it means large in this case as said. The date is on the other half of the stamp shown.

                It's the manufacture date, Showa 16 = 1941
