    uh oh.....it begins

FYI: stamps coming out and might be used for less than stellar motives. Might have been around for a bit, but it is the first time I have seen one for sale on ebay. Yikes!

    Hi Tom,

I see that seller has other types for sale too. I wonder if he has any idea of the troubles he is setting in motion by his actions.

    Regards,
    Stu

but if you look closely, you can tell that the kanji on the stamp are not correct. Looks amateur. From far away, looks similar to the real thing, but if you look closely, the kanji look bad.

It is the setting of the precedent that I am concerned about. It is here now and others may very well fellow, kanji getting better, etc. etc. I suppose it was inevitable that a stamp would surface sooner or later, I would have preferred much later. Furthermore, although seasoned collectors might see through such stamps immediately, this adds another layer for beginning collectors to sift through and not everyone is going to avoid this stamp pitfall.

I really dislike this kind of thing and wish that people who created these things added markings, whatever, to show that it was a repro. I know there are those who would disagree, but I end with saying: the originals have all been made, nothing after 1945, no matter how precise, will ever be an original, so do not muddy the waters.

            Fake clothing depot stamp

The kanji on there isn't perfect, but these stamps often aren't clear anyway. The best thing that could happen is no one buys it and the seller loses interest in making them.
But just so we have a record of it we can check easily later, I'm saving the pictures here on the board.
