Japanese flag question

Hello everyone,
I have a question about a Japanese flag that I have. Its an unsigned flag with interesting corner ties. The tie strings appear to be made from a blue silk cord. Has anyone seen ties like this before? There was no history with the flag, and I have not seen ties like this before. I have seen white, purple, and green. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Well, add pink to the colors of corner ties I have seen. Just spotted this one for sale. Don't know if its WW2 vintage or not?? Thought I would post it to add to the discussion.
