It gets no better than that. The rude part of me wants to ask approximately what it cost you. But i won't. I'd also wonder what an insurance value would be. I'd go with $2500.00. That's a center-piece and keeper. Thanks for sharing it and the story Paul. An outstanding piece of history.

It's actually presented to a Nobuo, not a Koichi. Interesting that one guy made an embarrassing misspelling with the word for chin-tie for a samurai helmet when he tried to quote a proverb about the need to tighten your helmet chinstraps after a victorious battle, meaning don't let complacency bring your guard down. He obviously forgot to tighten his own when he took the brush. I'm sure all the other contributors frowned when they saw that an idiot had doomed the flag with a slip like that. It now reads tie the tail of the helmet.

Hi Joel, I didn't pay too much for it, as I got it before flags really took off in my opinion. Nick, thanks for the additional information on the flag. I guess it turned out to be not such a lucky flag for the original owner after all. Its always a pleasure to read your insight into these wonderful pieces of history that we treasure so much! One of my favorite flags is one you used to own. You researched it and did a full history of it when you offered it for sale a few years ago. Its the Howa Heavy Industries flag. I just love the material its made from with the subtle floral motif silk. I haven't seen another like it.

Great flag Paul. The original thread is one i have went back and revisited many times. I bid on it way back when. What a steal this was for you. It is for sure one of the best around anywhere. Yes, that Howa flag was unique. I also have never seen such a fancy cloth used on flags elsewhere. His colleagues must have paid a lot for it or was it meant as the weapons company's last bonus? I'm happy it's with someone, who appreciates it.
