I had a couple of questions regarding the Japanese navy. Can't seem to figure out a couple of things:
1. During the early 1930s, I see NLF photos of them wearing a blue uniform like the ones that sailors wore on ships. Is it the same uniform? Any differences? And if they are the same, how would you identify it as being specifically NLF vs. regular navy from that time?
2. At what time, or during what occasions, did NLF wear the blue uniform vs. the 3 button tunics?
3. For all navy, they wore blue uniforms in winter and white in summer until 1943 when they switched to all year green, right? BUT why do I see blue tunics and photos of sailors wearing the blue uniform with the donald duck hat in 1944 and 1945?
4. When did the NLF start wearing green uniforms and wearing green caps? What was the exact month in 1943 when the navy decided to switch to wearing green uniforms?
5. I what occasions did the NLF wear wool caps vs. navy green caps? For example, what did they wear in combat vs. travel or non-combat duties?
6. Is post-Tarawa considered the "death of the NLF" as a special landing force? so basically after Nov. 1943?
7. When did the navy stop putting specifics on donald duck cap tallies? For example, having the name of the specific ship or unit on a tally. When did the NLF stop doing that?
