Info on an officer sword from French Indochina

I would like to have more info about this officer sword.
This one comes from an old man here in france who recieved the surrender of japanese officers in Indochina in 1945.

Nice looking sword with combat cover!
It looks like someone tucked in a good luck charm inside the cover. The four characters read: SAMUHARA, a phrase reputed to protect one against bullets.

Great find, old tsuba so think it was a old family blade fited for the war, hope we get to see the nakago and more of the blade
