Help translating naval units/codes!!!

I was wondering if someone could help me with naval unit numbers?
On naval hats and clothing, there is a part of the tag that reads 入籍番号 which I guess is "designated number". Anyways, I've seen codes like 呉山王機 under the "designated number" category. Can someone explain what this means? I believe the first kanji stands for "Kure", as I've seen "佐" which I assumed was for "Sasebo". What do these two kanji "山王" mean and finally what does this mean "機". Of course these 4 kanji are then followed by the actual number. Anyways, can anyone explain to me what this is? Unit numbers?

Next is not 山王. 山王 is 徴 Simplified form.
山王 is inductee.
Other is 志. volunteer.
機 is Engineer.

飛行 pilot
整備 Ground crew
工作 Mechanic
主計 Pay
