    Help with headband translation

Hey guys Im posting this headband up for translation on behalf of a mate, we especially would like to know what is written under the sun. If someone can translate what is written there it would be greatly appreciated!

I will let Wil (the owner) fill you in on the details of it.

    Thanks in advance
    Luke.

    Hello Luke,

I can't help you with that translation but if you run an Advanced search of the term "hachimaki" you'll learn much about these items. From what I have read they were produced in the millions and handed out to civilians in many areas to be worn as symbols of support for the military. They are often mistakenly thought to be Kamikaze headbands although I guess it's posible that an authentic Kamikaze one might come to light.

    Regards,
    Stu

This one is a "House of Swords" fake from the early 90s. It's made from a scrap of old linen, red sun painted on, kanji written by someone who isn't very familiar with Japanese (the writing under the sun is gibberish) and then stained and aged to give it that look.

      Had one myself once.

The good news is that even though it's fake, some guys with Japanese flight helmets in their collection will still pay a few bucks for it to display with their headgear.

        Gentlemen,
Looking closely at the two presented the first piece is completely different in construction material wise. The material used is almost identical to that of period flags while yes the second piece does appear to be an old rag. Also I'd like to know just what that gibberish really is, can anyone translate these?

Not sure the two are identical but I'm no expert. Just like to learn and know for sure!

Also any provenance on this just for consideration??
        Cheers,
        JustinC

It doesn't matter who made it or how it's made. It's a one looker fake, so don't waste any further time on it and move on.

Here is an original of what yours is trying to be http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=hachimaki
. However, these were issued to factory workers and had nothing to do with kamikaze pilots.
So strictly speaking what you have is a faked factory worker's headband.
Ones worn by pilots were not issue items but something you hand wrote, so there is no official original
style that can be recognized by a photo. With something like this provenance is everything, as they are
              essentially field made items .
