    Hi All,
Can anyone help me with the translation and what this document is for? Is it WW2 or post-war?

    Thank you,

It's "Letter of Appreciation" certificate, but it hasn't been filled out. There's a space for a date, but it's left blank.

It mentions the "Great East Asian War" so definitely WW2 era created.

Just curious about the watermark. One can sometimes see watermarks of pawlonia leaves or the mum on some award documents when they are held up to light. Please see the following ref. webpage for examples:

                    http://www.imperialjapanmedalsandbad...ocuments2.html

I would think that Navy documents like the one you have shown are rather uncommon and was interested to learn if they used any kind of unusual watermark for their documents.

                    Tom

                      Hi Tom,
I tried looking into the light but still couldn't find any watermarks. Thanks for the link to the Japanese document website. On Document page 3, there's a Appreciation document dated 1938 given by the IJA Minister Itagaki, which has a Army star on top instead of the IJN anchor and the borders around the document looks to be the same. It doesn't show any watermarks like the award documents . Maybe "Appreciation Document" didn't use watermarked?

Thanks again for your help !!

Rodney, Please see embedded pic below. I also attached the file for you records. Papa Nambu is correct when he said the date is missing. Also everyone is pretty much right on. Full line by line translation below. I hope this helps.

                            Thank you, Scott & Suemi

Thank You Scott and Suemi for the translation. I know it's hard to translate Japanese to english and get the full meaning. I think they still used the old style kanji which makes it harder to find the translation in a modern Japanese kanji books. I really appreciate both your help.

This would be an unissued letter of Appreciation to a company or individual that gave money (or ?) to the IJN. Is the red stamped on the lower left corner that of Mitsumasa Yoneuchi? I'm having a hard time finding anything about Minister of Navy Mitsumasa Yoneuchi, can anyone help with his information?

                              Thanks for all the help!
