Unknown Japanese insignia. Help please?

Hello everyone, I ended up getting this patch a while ago for $12.00, and I could not find it in any of my books. Would anyone happen to know, what it is?

I think its selfdefence force.

I don't believe that this insignia is for the JDSF. The style of cloth screams WW2 and it came in on a sheet of them along with naval landing forces.

Well, I am sure that this is not the first time when an unknown Japanese Item has came up. I am say it's japanese because it came in insignia sheet with many other japanese insignia sheets. I only took the one of this kind of insignia from it's sheet.
