help wanted with flag

Hi guys i need your advice this flag is in a junk shop near me he wants £70 for it.It appears linen or cotton.Its darker than the pictures make out and has a couple of stains but no holes .What is is and is it real and value

Originals are linen and it looks like the stitching you would see on a hand made navy flag. I would expext a heavier lanyard and the corners to be stitched with reinforment type stitching if it was flown on a ship. It could be another type of flag used by the navy.

Jim its quite a big fag maybe 7 or 8 feet by 4 feet he want $120 for it .
