I've searched the forum looking for examples and google, but can't find anything. I'm looking at a navy example with a bit of salt added to it. What would a good used one retail for? Thank you.

there are actually several different models/styles, along with the summer/winter (i.e. non-fur or fur lined) difference. price depends on style and condition.
If this is the more typical leather, type 2, meaning no fold down or fold back ear straps, and in summer version (no fur), a good starting price would be around $600-$700 for a good example with maybe some leather condition problems (no rips or missing pieces or eaten insides), and then it goes up. I've paid over $1200 for a minty example before, and have sold a couple in the $800-$100 range. The current market is alittle down at the moment. This is only talking about summer type 2s in leather.
Be aware, there are some very good repros that were done of the type 2s, both by nakata and by earlier shops. Make sure it has the inside label and check for the green label in the back (some did not have this). There are style variations within the type 2 model.
There are also early and late war versions of IJN flight helmets, with different material construction (eel skin, sharkskin, pig vs cattle leather, cloth, etc), as well as one with electronics. The early examples are typically much rarer, with the winter type earlier version being a collector fav. I've let go of two summer early versions go, one which I thankfully got back, and one which I wish I didn't sell!
