Hello everyone
I have the Japanese flag.
Friends have told me is original. Size is 40x25 inch. Cotton
Some words are "Celebrate going to the front" and "Buun Chokyu (Good luck in the battle)" and other words are names of people .....
But I still doubt it. The red color is impeccable, although the white is dirty, yellowed. The canvas is very well preserved.
What do you think about this flag? Is it original or fake?
Can you translate any name, or if it is written the name of the Japanese soldier?
How do you differentiate an original flag or false?
Excuse me for so many questions, I really like this flag, but I have fear that is false.

I've seen original flags that look new. That all depends on the material they are made from and how well taken care of they are. With your flag I would be more concerned with the writing. To me, there doesn't seem to be a lot of variation in the hand writing as one might expect from something signed by many people. But it would really require the eye of a native Japanese reader (or at least someone more fluent than me) to be able to distinguish that kind of detail. The writing on this is mostly too sloppy for me to read.

Not saying your flag is fake or real, just saying that's what needs to be checked.

The Kanji on this one seems awful sloppy, and very little variation in the strokes. I also do not like the ink stress lines, seems way off.

IMO, a humped upped regular flag.

Probably you're right with the lines of writing on the canvas.
I wet a little water, a word and not smudge ....
Could be written with a waterproof pen?

What type of ink used to write to these flags?

All of my flags have places where they ran ..I would assume the ink wasn't colorfast as today. The japanese collectors will know .

Hello again:
I have read, especially in ribbons of medals, with ultraviolet light, should not react, not to shine. Also, this test of UV light in uniform until 1945.
The cloths until 1945, did not use many chemicals. But now, many chemicals used, with UV light shine.
It could be tested for UV light in a Japanese flag?? I think it should not shine if it is original WWII ....

Today, I passed a UV black light through the flag and does not react, it does not shine under UV light.
This is good news, it gives me more security, that is original WWII.
If it was false, fabric, shines brightly .....
