Yeah I could not resist a #2 Japanese mine training kit. These were all around about 25 years ago now they seemed to have dried up. This one is complete with a manual. I will be selling it sooner or later but for now it's a great display.

These sets are very neat! I was under the impression they made a very large number of these to help train engineers (among other branches) for the then impending invasion of mainland Japan. Most of them were broken up and the various parts sold as "original" Japanese ordnance to the unsuspecting. I regret not getting a set when they first hit the market

From what I saw there were 591 sets made and like you said they were cannabalized when they hit the surplus market years ago.Comment
