Explain Japanese Characters on a WW2 rifle *help please*

    Hello Gentlemen,
A friend showed me what I believe to be a vet bring back WW2 Japanese rifle. There are Japanese characters carved into the wooden rifle stock and also stamped on the gun barrel.
Does anyone know what they mean?
    Thank you,
    Curtiss

Not sure of the first character on the stock, but the rest are the numbers"369". On the receiver is the usual "99 Type" marking found on Japanese 7.7mm Type 99 rifles.

It looks like Shigeno, a name and his number 369 to me.
