This battle damaged IJA helmet came in today and by the looks of it I don't think it tells a story with a happy ending for it's original owner. The helmet itself is an IJA made by Daido steel in size large. Inside the original liner and chinstrap are present but the rivet on the left hand side has been knocked off as a result of the battle damage. The liner itself is split in the rear, displays some Kanji marking, is dated 1941 on the front pad and also appears to display a fair amount of blood staining. A single projectile entrance hole is present on the left hand side of the helmet which also passes through the leather liner. This indicates to me that this set has always been together. It looks as if this helmet was stored in a garage post war and as a result displays a lot of paint splatter to the exterior of the shell. On the front of the helmet at one point in time some sort of sticker was present and then rather roughly removed damaging the paint in that area. Here are some pictures, the sun light wasn't the best today. Comments and opinions appreciated. -Jeremy
