Japanese Field Desk or Equip. Box???

One of my picker pals just picked up this box for me... Any ideas? Looks like a desk, but not hinged and I can't figure out if it is a field desk or a box for equipment.

It's wartime military issue, so a lot of us Japanese WW2 collectors would be interested in stuff like this. Especially anyone who has that radio.

Yes, that is true I suppose. Shipping it would be quite an expense and finding the right guy at my next little show I might go to would be dumb luck. I guess I could put it on ebay and see if anyone wants to pay the freight!
