    Naval Ship's Light Fixture

I'm just guessing, but I imagine someone grabbed this off of a ship that was being prepared for use as a target, maybe during nuclear bomb testing or gunnery practice. I'm guessing that because all of the good souvenirs must have already been gone by the time someone felt it was worth while to unbolt this from the bulkhead. It's rather heavy.
If only he had made a little note of which vessel it was from, it would be much more interesting. But I do love it.

    May, 1935 date

And it's not just on display. The socket works fine with a modern light bulb, so it helps light up my collection.

Aren't these items the greatest? I have a formation light that weighs around 80 pounds....why anyone would think to drag this back home is beyond me but I'm very grateful he did! Since most of these boats ended up at the bottom of the ocean it's still pretty cool to own at least a little part of one
