Silver? Saka cup from Hirohito's Palace

Hello forum...

I found this lot/collection last Saturday yard saling.

The WWII veteran passed away a few years ago.. and his son sold these to me.

The son said his father was with military intelligence and claimed this saka cup came from Hirohito's palace.

There was also a stack of photos. Some are really neat... with Gen. McArthur. The larger ones have captions to the back as if they were press photos of some sort.

I agree. It is mpst unlikely that any "souvenirs" were taken from the Imperial Household as the palace was never occupied by Allied forces. This sounds like a war story that grew legs over the years.
