    Hi All,
I have a Russo/Japan War tunic and would like to know if anyone can translate the writings on the inside.
    Thank you,
    Rodney

Thanks hc8mm, dated 1898. Could the 32 have something to do with the 32 on the shoulder boards?

This is the stamp from my tunic. I believe it made in sep 1887, and issued in dec 1889. It also looks like it's issued to the 3rd company? (it has 1st shoulder numbers).

                    Thank you All,
First of all, Thanks Nick for your help with the translation. This is a nice early tunic and the only one in my collection. I wasn't sure of the stamping as most look like it was hand written and not like the WW2 ones.

Jareth, I really didn't know how hard to get these tunic were at first and seen only a few for sale in the last couple of years. Steward's military shop has a complete one for sale on their website.

b-m-n animal, your block stamp and kanji looks very much like mines. I will post more pictures soon but sadly my tunic has some missing buttons and one of the shoulder board button also came off, guess with age the threads a little weak. Please post your Meiji collection as it is always nice to see Japan's earlier tunics from the Russo/Japan War. If you know where I can find some front buttons (originals or Nakata's replicas) please let me know.

Malarky, welcome aboard!! Do you collect Japanese Meiji period militaria? This is my only tunic I have from that period, don't want to stretch my collection out that far but wanted one at least for my collection.

                    Aloha,
                    Rodney

I'm going to a Military Collectibles show in Tokyo next month. I don't have any pre-WW2 Japanese uniforms myself, but if you show me what the buttons look like, I can try searching for some.

Rodney & all I have a mint/unissued type 45 tunic with pants that I'd trade (only) for NLF items.

                              Hi Papa Nambu,
Thank you, Thank you!! If it isn't any trouble to look for these buttons, like finding a "Needle in a haystack". I truly would appreciate your help very much. I'm looking for 3 of the front buttons.
The button is about 23 mm (7/8"). Here's some pics that I hope will help.
