Hi all, as you can see I actually have time to post today LOL....I decided to start a new thread regarding the camo haversack and add some photos of the after attack of the Giretsu Unit on Yontan Airfield, Okinawa. First off, Please don't go any further if Japanse KIA photos affend you. Ok, As promised here are some photos of the Camo Haversack that was discussed in another thread. In hand, this haversack is simply awesome, After two weeks of looking at it over and over, I truly believe that the camo (black) is period applied. The date and camo would coinside with the Giretsu Unit that self applied their Camo on their uniforms and equipment prior to attacking Okinawa. There were several of the planes that were part of the attack that had to return due to mechanical issues with the aircraft. I understand that I can never prove this was attached to the returning units but as mentioned, everthing fits so everone will have their own opinions but I think that once you have this in hand, you will have second thoughts. Also I have attached several personal vet photos of the attack. Im only posting photos of more interesting ones as the rest are of body parts and wreckage. The vet seemed to have an interest in the two Giretsu's pictured. One thing I did notice is that in all the photos I have had I can never see any rank insignia in any of the photos? I wonder if they removed the rank prior to the attack?
