looks like there's still a thread on it that was used to attach to a uniform. Don't know if you have any acquisition background but this indicates it was issued and probably cut off a uniform, possibly in the field. Star prongs aren't showing on the backside so it is an original sgt insignia and not 'field' modified.

no acquistion background i'm afraid , i have few more and i will upload a picture as soon as ...i have a thing for collar tabs and i just cant get enough of them
