    Japanese helmets..

    Hi All,
    Happy Thanksgivings!!
Here's my helmets, the WW2 one looks green in the picture but it's more of a brownish color. The Jingasa I'm not sure how old it is.
    Thanks for looking!

    Hi All,
Here's clearer pictures of the dry-lacquered Jingasa. The mon is for the Hosokawa Family. There's damage to the lacquer and was told it would be costly to repair. Can anyone tell if it's an older Jingasa (1800's)?

    Thank you,
    Rodney

Mahalo Paul! I was hoping to get a samurai's kabuto but couldn't afford one, especially a nice one.... This type I think was used by higher ranked samurai.

Hi gunto, I hope these extra photos will help.. The top rings are all separate pieces.

Nice late Edo Period jingasa. This form was worn while riding a horse.

Mahalo Bob for the information. The rings (9 of them) around the insides, are they used for attaching a cloth neck sun shield (havelock)?
A print of the Seinan War "Satsuma Rebellion" 1877, the samurai on the horse is using a jingasa. Saigo Takamori was truly the "Last Samurai"....
