    Help with a Japanese helmet

    Hello everyone,
I am going to restore a Japanese type 90 helmet, and need a little help determining the correct size. Its a stripped out post war Thai used helmet with almost no paint left and no badge. I am going to put a repo liner in it, but I don't know what size it is. I cant see any size mark stamped into the shell itself. I know these were either a small or large. I put it rim to rim with an original helmet I have that is a size large. They don't quite line up, as one is a litttle more round and the other is more oval, but its pretty close! Is there a huge difference when you place a small size helmet rim to rim with a large one? Or would it be better to get a measurement? does anyone have a measurement for each of the helmet sizes? Where should the measurement be taken from? On German helmets, its along the rivet line, is it the same for Japanese type 90 helmets? Thanks to everyone for any input and help that you can give me on my quest for answers!

if you're going to strip it out, check for the size kanji stamped INTO the metal at the rim. It should be near where you'd ind the size kanji painted. It might be kind of faint but you might be able to pick up a couple of strokes and figure out what size it is

Thanks Blinky! I didn't see anything in that area, however I didn't start stripping it yet. Theres paint there, so I am sure its obscuring the mark!
