Ivory tanto question and Samurai helmet

I recently got this tanto and display Samurai helmet from one of my ads.

Ive owned a few of these tantos before with OK blades and a Japanese collector here on the forum told me that these were made for resale in JAPAN after the boarders opened up in the late 1800 through the early 1900s.

Is there any further information I can pass on?

I also got this helmet.. HEAVY... From a fellow that bought it in the 1950s in JAPAN.

Im sure its not "original" but a neat piece to go with a nice Sword collection.

Have you all see these helmets before?

Hi,

Yes they are both tourist pieces and the helmets are still available today in shops. By the way, the fringe of the tassel is suppose to hang in the back of the helmet.

I have heard that as well that they were made to be sold.

Ill move the tassel... that makes more sense anyway>>> HAHA
