Gen. Ike in Japan?

Hello forum...

I found this photo album yard saling for $25 yesterday... along with a type 99 carbine for $75.

The album shows Gen. Eisenhower at a train station in Japan, along with some inspection photos.

The album shows a US Army barracks burned to the ground and various notations to the back in occupied Japan?

Did the Japanese sabotage US occupation forces efforts in the early days after surrender?

thats a nice album, I never knew Ike was in Japan, was Macarthur also there at the time. I wonder who outranked who? Anyhow from what relatives of mine told me the Japanese were pretty subservient once the war was over which irked a lot of Aussies who thought they got off easy especially Hirohito. Even as a kid anti Japanese sentiment ran deep. Was it like that in the States?

I heard that the Japanese in general... LOVED Macarthur when the war over??

I met many US veterans over the years saying they would never buy a Japanese car and stray derogatory remarks here and there.

Of course anti Japanese sentiment ran deep in the USA.
Preserving Hirohito's neck was not a popular decision with the rank and file, but certainly the right thing to do.
This was not the time for anarchy & power struggles in Japan.

I know Ike visited Japan when he was CinC, never heard of a military visit.
Are we sure this is Japan, and maybe not China or something ?
Some of the later street scenes, the buildings look a bit too well preserved to be post war Japan.

These photos were probably taken during the early occupation era when Ike was the Army Chief of Staff (1945-47). I'm sure he would have visited Japan while he held that position.

Missing the safety knob to the back. Fairly decent otherwise. Mum is sanded.
